Drug Detox

Anyone who wants to get clean and sober should know that they have to go through detox and get their body cleaned out of all the drugs and alcohol if they want to have any kind of chance at starting a new life.  There are a number of ways to go about doing this but one of them is to go into a treatment center or a drug rehab and let the medical supervision there get you fully detoxed.  This is a great way to do it and it is also very safe but it is also very expensive.  Some people can not afford to go to rehab and so in some cases they will end up detoxing themselves.

If you are looking to clean out your system in a holistic way after you have been clean and sober for a few months then you might look into doing an herbal detox of some sort.  Some people believe that vitamins or supplements are the way to go and this can certainly be helpful for your long term detox symptoms and post acute withdrawal that you might be experiencing.  Herbal supplements can be a decent addition to anyone’s long term detoxing efforts, it all just depends on what type of holistic approach you are taking.

Some people will not get into this type of thing and that is just fine.  But you should realize that you need to use a holistic approach and look at all aspects of your recovery and your overall health in recovery.  For example, you should consider exercise and nutrition to at least some degree after you have been clean and sober for a year or two.  It would be a mistake to ignore this aspect of your life and it will ultimately be detrimental to your recovery if you do not get active in some way with these holistic aspects of recovery.
